When it comes to your pet's well being, knowing your options is the first step to ensuring the best care is provided. Non-Invasive Treatments Here are some of the treatments that are available:
  • Photobiomodulation or cold laser therapy- this is light therapy that works at a cellular level reducing inflammation and pain.
  • Therapeutic ultrasound – sound therapy often used to increase the extensibility of soft tissue. Often used prior to manual therapy techniques.
  • Neuromuscular electrical stimulation – NMES provides an electrical stimulus to muscles causing a contraction. This is often used following spinal surgery but may also be used in conjunction with exercises for improved strengthening.

Physical Treatments

  • Underwater treadmill – provides buoyancy as well as resistance so can be beneficial for improved mobility and strength
  • Manual therapy – includes massage, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and osteopathic techniques
  • Exercises – determined based on pet’s needs and may include platforms/steps, balance discs, and therapy peanuts
  • Instruction in home exercises
